Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While the response attempts to describe the stages of the noodle manufacturing process, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the main features. Some steps are described in a confusing manner, such as 'noodles are discus', which misinterprets the visual information. The response covers the process but lacks the necessary detail and clarity required for a higher band score. To improve, ensure all stages are clearly identified and described accurately, and provide a more comprehensive overview of the entire process.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. Transitions like 'To starts with' and 'The another step is' are used, but they are grammatically incorrect and do not effectively guide the reader through the process. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the sequence of events. To improve, use a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, moving logically from one stage of the manufacturing process to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'step', 'add', and 'put'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'discus' instead of 'cut' or 'formed', and 'ready the mixer' instead of 'preparing the mixture'. Spelling errors, such as 'stroage', 'mixere', and 'futher', further detract from the quality of the writing. To improve, focus on learning process-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'processed', 'extruded', 'packaged') and ensure accurate spelling of common words used in academic writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the first step is the silos is stroage'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'cooked the noodles'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty or unclear. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for common errors like missing 's' on plurals or incorrect verb tenses will also help.
