Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the process of manufacturing instant noodles. While it identifies the main stages, the description is often unclear and lacks the precision required for an Academic Task 1 report. The student mentions key steps like mixing, rolling, and drying, but the explanation of the flow is disjointed and fails to clearly communicate the sequence of events. The overview is weak, as it does not effectively summarize the main stages of the process. To improve, focus on clearly identifying the beginning, middle, and end of the process using formal language and ensuring all steps are described logically.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into three paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often confusing. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'On the last hand' or 'In the strat'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the manufacturing process step-by-step. The transitions between sentences are often abrupt, and the lack of logical flow between the mixing, rolling, and packaging stages hinders the overall coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'perparing', 'strat', 'soils' (likely meant 'silos'), and 'lables'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe a technical process accurately. The student relies on basic verbs like 'make' and 'go', which are not appropriate for a formal report. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise process-related vocabulary such as 'conveyed', 'compressed', 'dehydrated', and 'automated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are significant issues with sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and article usage (e.g., 'flour store on the storage soils', 'mixer make mixture'). The attempt to use complex sentences is largely unsuccessful, resulting in fragmented or run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes and commas. A focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring correct verb tenses for process descriptions is essential for improvement.
