Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, from storage to packaging. However, it lacks a clear overview or summary of the process, which is essential for a Band 7 or higher. The description is overly mechanical, listing steps sequentially without highlighting the key features or the transformation of the product. For instance, the transition from raw flour to the final noodle disc is described, but the overall flow of the process could be better synthesized. The response is somewhat repetitive in its structure, using 'The first step is...', 'The second step is...', which limits the ability to present a cohesive summary of the information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized chronologically, which provides a basic level of coherence. However, the paragraphing is poor; the entire body of the text is presented as a single, dense block, which makes it difficult to read. Cohesive devices are used, but they are repetitive and mechanical (e.g., 'In this step', 'Then it is'). There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the progression of ideas feels like a list rather than a well-integrated report. To improve, you should group related stages into distinct paragraphs and use a wider range of transition signals to connect ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple verbs like 'is called', 'is mixed', and 'is stored'. There is little attempt to use more precise or academic vocabulary related to manufacturing processes (e.g., 'conveyed', 'processed', 'transformed', 'integrated'). Additionally, there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'sealed out' and 'labeled with certain kinds if colors', which are not natural collocations. Expanding your range of process-related verbs and nouns would significantly improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures and the passive voice. While the passive voice is appropriate for a process description, the lack of complex sentence structures (such as relative clauses or participle phrases) limits your range. There are several grammatical errors, including punctuation issues (missing spaces after commas), subject-verb agreement errors ('8 steps that starts'), and awkward phrasing ('the process of manufacturing of instant noodles'). The frequent repetition of 'In this step' also makes the writing feel monotonous. Incorporating more varied sentence types would help demonstrate better control over English grammar.
