Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the manufacturing process but fails to maintain an academic tone. The introduction includes irrelevant personal opinions about fast food, which is not required for an Academic Task 1 report. While the main steps of the process are identified, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview of the entire cycle. The conclusion is also unnecessary and contains incomplete sentences, which detracts from the professional summary required. To improve, focus strictly on the visual data provided and omit personal commentary or subjective opinions about food trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response uses some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'Moreover', but these are often used mechanically. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is incomplete and lacks logical connection to the preceding description of the manufacturing process. The progression of ideas is generally chronological, following the diagram, but the overall structure is weakened by the inclusion of irrelevant introductory and concluding remarks that do not serve the purpose of a data report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'tatse', 'floue', 'curical', 'Aditionally', and 'prefare'. The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple verbs like 'made', 'done', and 'added'. There is little evidence of the precise, technical vocabulary required to describe a manufacturing process effectively. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more specific process-related verbs and nouns, such as 'conveyed', 'processed', 'extruded', or 'dehydrated', and ensure accurate spelling throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'dough is process', 'flour is store', 'dough are transfered'). There are also issues with article usage and sentence structure. While some complex structures are attempted, they are often marred by errors. The final sentence is incomplete, which significantly impacts the clarity of the writing. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject, verb, and object, while avoiding sentence fragments.
