The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

This diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing instant noodles in a factory. Overall, there are eight main stages, beginning with the storage of flour and ending with the labelling and sealing of final product.

The process starts with flour being delivered from storage silos to mixer by truck. At the mixer, water and oil is added to the flour. Then the mixture is processed by roller to form dough sheets. Next, these sheets are cut into dough strips, which are then shaped into noodle disc.

After that, the noodle disc go through the cooking in oil and drying stage. Once dried, vegetables and spices are added to the noodles. In the final two stages, the noodles are placed in cups. The cups are being labelled and sealed before being packaged for distribution.

In summary, the production of instant noodles is a fully automated, 8-steps process that involves mixing, shaping, cooking and packaging.
