The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing instant noodles. Overall, it is a linear process consisting of eight stages, beginning with the storage of flour and ending with the labelling and sealing of the finished cups.

Initially, flour is delivered and stored in large storage silos. It is then transferred to a mixer, where water and oil are added to produce dough. The dough passes through a series of rollers that flatten it into thin sheets. These sheets are subsequently cut into narrow strips before being shaped into circular noodle discs.

In the next stage, the noodle discs are cooked in oil and then dried to remove excess moisture. After the drying process, the noodles are placed into individual cups. At this point, measured quantities of vegetables and spices are added to each cup to enhance the flavor .

Finally, the filled cups are sealed with lids and labelled, making them ready for distribution and sale. Overall, the production process transforms simple raw materials, such as flour, water and oil, into packaged instant noodles through a sequence of mixing, shaping, cooking, drying and packaging stages.
