Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, the description is overly simplistic and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. You have not provided a clear overview or highlighted key comparisons, such as the transition from raw ingredients to the final packaged product. To improve, you must expand on each stage of the process, ensuring you reach the word count, and provide a more analytical summary of the overall manufacturing flow rather than just listing steps.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks paragraphing, which is essential for a clear structure in an Academic Task 1 report. While there is a basic attempt at sequencing using words like 'firstly' and 'after this', the flow is repetitive and mechanical. The lack of clear transitions between the stages makes the text feel like a list rather than a cohesive report. To improve, you should organize your writing into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group related stages of the process together. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices will help improve the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'dough' and 'strips'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the noodles is being ready to go to labels', which is not natural English. You rely on simple verbs like 'use', 'make', and 'add'. To achieve a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise, process-related vocabulary such as 'processed', 'extruded', 'dehydrated', or 'automated'. Expanding your range of vocabulary will allow you to describe the manufacturing stages with greater accuracy and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the noodles is being made' and 'create a strips'. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with limited use of complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that lack proper conjunctions or full stops. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Additionally, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures, such as passive voice constructions, which are highly appropriate for describing industrial processes.
