Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the student identifies the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, the description is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary detail to fully report on the process. The overview is present but simplistic. Because the response is 31 words short, it does not provide a sufficiently detailed summary of the information provided in the diagram, leading to a lower band score for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'At a fleeting glance' and 'On next stage'. The logical flow between steps is sometimes disjointed, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'it' and 'this' without clear antecedents. While there is an attempt to sequence the process, the overall progression is hindered by the limited range of linking words and the brevity of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying on simple verbs like 'added', 'put', and 'send'. There are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'process of manufactured' instead of 'manufacturing process' and 'silos is send' (grammatical error affecting lexical clarity). The student does not demonstrate the range of vocabulary required to describe a technical process effectively. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise verbs and nouns related to industrial processes, such as 'conveyed', 'incorporated', or 'automated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'silos is send', 'noodles is are cut') and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'putted'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. The high frequency of basic errors in simple sentence structures prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
