Student answer (Band 6.0)
The process chart illustrates the manufacturing process of instant noodles.
Overall, it is a linear procedure where in initial stage storage silos are filled with flour and at final stage noodle cups are labeled and ready to delivered.
initially the storage silos are filled with flour via truck. In the next stage these flour is sent into the mixer where, water and oil are poured to form a dough like structure.
In the second stage, the dough comes out from the mixer through rollers. following this dough converts into dough sheets through rollers. Now this sheets are cuts into strips in the machine.
In the third stage, dough strips are now shaped into the discs form. followed this process this discs are sent into the oil fryer. Furthermore, fried discs are sent to remove excess oil by drying process.
at final stage, in a cup vegetables and spices are added to enhance the flavour of noodles and noodle discs are added into these cups and transferred for lablelling and sealing counter. finally this noodle cups are ready to delivered.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all stages of the manufacturing process, from the storage of flour to the final packaging. The overview provides a basic summary of the linear nature of the process. However, the report lacks a clear distinction between the main features and supporting details. While the sequence is followed, the description of the stages is somewhat mechanical and lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band. For instance, the transition between the dough sheets and the cutting process is described, but the overall flow could be better highlighted by grouping related stages more effectively to show the progression from raw material to finished product.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into a logical sequence, following the steps of the diagram. Paragraphing is present, though the structure is somewhat disjointed. Cohesive devices such as 'initially', 'in the next stage', 'following this', and 'furthermore' are used to link ideas, but they are sometimes used repetitively or in a slightly mechanical way. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better sentence integration to ensure a smoother progression of information throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with terms like 'manufacturing process', 'storage silos', and 'dough sheets' used correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'dough like structure' and 'discs form'. There are also minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'ready to delivered' instead of 'ready to be delivered' and 'lablelling'. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to use more precise technical vocabulary and improve the accuracy of word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('these flour is sent'), missing articles ('in a cup vegetables... are added'), and incorrect verb forms ('ready to delivered'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
