Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, from raw materials to final packaging. However, it lacks an overview or summary of the process, which is essential for a Band 6 or higher. The description is purely sequential and lacks any comparison or synthesis of the stages. Furthermore, the final sentence about shopkeepers and profit margins is irrelevant to the diagram provided, which focuses solely on the manufacturing process. To improve, you should provide a clear introductory summary of the overall process and focus strictly on the information presented in the diagram without adding external information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized chronologically, which provides a basic structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is repetitive and mechanical (e.g., 'The second step', 'The third step', 'In the fourth step'). There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the paragraphing is non-existent; the entire response is a single block of text. To improve, you should group related stages into paragraphs and use a wider range of cohesive devices such as 'subsequently', 'following this', or 'once the process is complete' to improve the flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'step', 'noodles', and 'process'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'noodles discs will come trough' and 'labeling the cups with high packaging'. The range is insufficient to convey the technical nature of the process effectively. To improve, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to manufacturing, such as 'ingredients', 'conveyor belt', 'automated', 'processed', or 'sealed'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The noodles is ready', 'shopkeepers takes'), missing articles ('in factory'), and incorrect verb forms ('noodles manufactured' instead of 'noodle manufacturing'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they are often grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
