Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main stages of the manufacturing process, from the storage of flour to the final sealing. However, the report is significantly undermined by the fact that the text repeats itself, with the second half of the essay essentially restarting the description. This repetition suggests a lack of planning and control. While the main features are identified, the lack of a clear, cohesive summary and the inclusion of redundant, identical paragraphs prevent the response from being fully developed. To improve, ensure you present the information once, clearly, and focus on comparing the stages rather than simply listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organization is severely hampered by the repetition of the entire introduction and the first few steps of the process. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'thereafter', and 'in the subsequent steps', the overall structure is disjointed due to the duplicated text. Paragraphing is present, but the content within the paragraphs is not logically sequenced because the essay restarts halfway through. To achieve a higher band, you must ensure that your ideas flow linearly without repeating information, and use cohesive devices to link sentences rather than just starting them with simple transition words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for describing a process, using terms like 'storage silos', 'mixer machines', 'dough sheets', and 'labelled and sealed'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'inviedent' (ingredient) and 'afterwhich' (which should be two words: 'after which'). The repetition of the same vocabulary due to the duplicated text limits the range of language displayed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of verbs to describe the process (e.g., 'processed', 'transformed', 'distributed') and ensure accurate spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'instant noodle are created' (subject-verb agreement), 'flour mix with water' (missing auxiliary verb), and 'rollers machines' (incorrect pluralization). There is a limited range of complex structures, and the sentences are often simple or contain errors in tense and article usage. The repetition of the text also highlights these persistent grammatical issues. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent use of articles, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct punctuation and conjunctions.
