Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to describe the process of manufacturing instant noodles, but it fails to meet the requirements of an Academic Task 1 report. Instead of providing an objective summary of the process, the writer includes personal commentary, such as 'I think dough is relevant' and 'When the flour is not available how noodles is manufactured', which is inappropriate for this task. The description of the stages is fragmented and lacks a clear overview of the process. Important stages are mentioned, but the lack of formal tone and the inclusion of irrelevant personal opinions significantly detract from the task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks a logical structure. While there is a chronological attempt using words like 'First', 'Second', and 'After', the paragraphing is non-existent, and the flow of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'At this placed vegetables and spices add into the cups'. The lack of clear transitions between the stages of the manufacturing process makes the text difficult to follow. The final paragraph is particularly confusing as it shifts from describing the process to offering personal opinions about the importance of flour.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple verbs like 'need', 'mix', and 'place'. There is a lack of technical or process-related vocabulary appropriate for describing a manufacturing diagram. Errors in word choice and collocation are frequent, such as 'dying in machine' (likely meant 'drying') and 'sealing into the market'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision, and the errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the specific steps in the process.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('noodles is manufactured', 'dough sheets is bring'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'Then cups placed from labels and packing'. There is almost no use of complex sentence structures, and the control over basic grammar is weak. These persistent errors make the text difficult to read and demonstrate a limited range of grammatical control.
