Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, from the storage of flour to the final packaging. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview of the process as a whole. While the student identifies the key steps, the summary of the process is slightly repetitive, and the 'overall' conclusion provided at the end does not add significant value or synthesize the information effectively. To reach a higher band, the response should better highlight the transformation of the raw materials into the final product and provide a more analytical summary of the key stages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the sequence of events. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally mechanical, such as the frequent use of 'then' and 'after'. The transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of information. While the logical progression is generally clear, the referencing is sometimes imprecise, such as in the sentence 'it is then send to various mart', where the pronoun 'it' is ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear reference points would enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat limited and contains several inaccuracies. For example, the student repeatedly uses 'floor' instead of 'flour', which is a significant spelling error that affects clarity. Other word choices, such as 'dough stripes' and 'noodles disc', suggest a lack of precision in describing technical processes. While the student attempts to use process-related vocabulary, the range is narrow, and the errors in word choice and spelling are noticeable. Expanding the range of vocabulary to include more precise process-related terms would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Subject-verb agreement is often incorrect, such as 'The diagram demonstrate' instead of 'demonstrates' and 'water and oil is mixed' instead of 'are mixed'. Additionally, there are issues with article usage and verb tense consistency, such as 'it is then send' instead of 'sent'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb forms in passive constructions.
