Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main stages of the noodle manufacturing process, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. You have listed the steps rather than synthesizing the information into a cohesive report. Furthermore, some details are inaccurate or confusing, such as the description of 'noodles discs' and the sequence of mixing. To improve, ensure you provide a more detailed summary of the process flow and ensure the word count exceeds the minimum threshold to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Further information', but these are used somewhat awkwardly. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the manufacturing process. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother narrative flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'stage', 'produce', and 'ready'. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'testy' instead of 'tasty' and 'distribution' used as a noun where a verb or different structure might be more appropriate. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to industrial processes, such as 'conveyor belt', 'automated', 'dehydrated', or 'packaging'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you describe the process more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('noodles going through', 'noodles ready for going') and missing articles. Sentence structures are generally simple and often lack proper punctuation or complete verb phrases. For example, 'start with storage silos' should be 'starting with storage silos'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb. Additionally, practice using complex sentences with relative clauses to improve your grammatical range.
