Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response successfully covers all main stages of the instant noodle manufacturing process shown in the diagram, beginning with the storage silos and concluding with sealing, labeling, and transportation. The student provides a clear overview in the introduction and outlines the sequential steps without missing any major milestones. Key features such as mixing, rolling, shaping, cooking, drying, and flavoring are correctly identified and reported in logical order. However, the explanation tends to be a bit descriptive and lacks more insightful comparisons or grouping where relevant, which prevents it from achieving a higher band. Overall, the task is well addressed, meeting the requirements of a Band 6.5 or 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear chronological progression from start to finish. The student utilizes sequential transition phrases such as 'Firstly', 'In the next stage', 'After the mixing is fully complete', and 'In the final stage' to guide the reader through the manufacturing process. However, paragraphing is somewhat inadequate, as the entire body of the process is compressed into a single, overly dense paragraph rather than being broken down into logical phases of production. Additionally, referencing and pronoun choice are occasionally awkward, such as 'this noodles is put'. Cohesion is therefore at times mechanical, placing this criterion at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully employing process-specific terms such as 'storage silos', 'mixing container', 'conveyor belt', and 'spices'. However, there are numerous word choice errors and incorrect collocations, such as 'materials are roll to the roller', 'cross to a small circular thread', and 'put the extra spices like the masala'. Furthermore, word forms are frequently misused, as seen in 'we drying the noodles disc' instead of 'drying the noodle discs'. These errors show limited control over less common lexical items, keeping the vocabulary score at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is noticeably weak due to frequent structural errors. There are numerous tense and voice inconsistencies, such as 'how the instant noodles are prepared', 'materials are roll', and 'this noodles is put'. Errors in prepositions and verb forms are persistent, for instance, 'After complete this step', 'for cook', and 'arranged the proper way and put to the conveyor belt'. Furthermore, the inappropriate use of first-person pronouns ('we shaped', 'we drying', 'we sealed') is unsuited to an academic report. These grammatical slips hinder clarity, resulting in a band score of 5.0.
