Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The candidate successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by providing a clear and comprehensive summary of the eight-stage instant noodle manufacturing process. An appropriate overview is included, capturing both the starting point of raw flour delivery and the final stages of packaging and sealing. Main features such as mixing, rolling, shaping into discs, cooking, drying, and adding vegetables and spices are accurately reported and sequenced without introducing irrelevant details. The data is fully supported by the provided diagram, and the progression of steps is logically communicated, satisfying all requirements for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear overall progression from the beginning to the end of the manufacturing process. Information is well-chunked into distinct paragraphs representing the introduction, overview, and the two halves of the process. Cohesive devices such as 'Subsequently', 'Once processed', and 'Finally' are used effectively to guide the reader through the sequence of steps. Referencing is clear throughout, and paragraphing is handled appropriately.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, successfully utilizing process-specific terms such as 'multi-stage', 'storage silos', 'continuous thin strips', and 'roller conveyor'. However, there are a number of spelling and word-choice errors scattered throughout the text, including 'instatnt' for instant, 'manufactureing' for manufacturing, 'soil' for silo, 'floure' for flour, 'falt' for flat, 'intyo' for into, 'contionous' for continuous, 'drough' for dough, 'individuals' for individual, and 'leabled' for labeled. These minor mechanical errors prevent the score from reaching higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as participial phrases ('starting from raw flour deliver to final packaging') and subordinate clauses. However, there are several grammatical and mechanical inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'The provide diagram illustrate' (subject-verb agreement and tense error), 'raw flour deliver' (form error), 'transfered into storage silos' (spelling), and 'passed through the series of heavy roller' (pluralisation error). Despite these frequent minor errors, the meaning remains clear and communication is not impeded.
