The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing instant noodles, from storing the raw materials to sealing and labelling the final product.

Overall, there are eight main stages in the production of instant noodles. The process starts with storing flour and ends with the noodles being placed in cups, labelled and sealed.

First, flour is stored in large silos and then transferred to a mixer. Water and oil are added to the flour to make dough. Next, the dough passes through rollers, which produce thin sheets. These sheets are then cut into strips. After that, the strips are shaped into noodle discs.

In the following stage, the noodle discs are cooked in oil and then dried. Once they have been prepared, the noodles are placed into cups. Vegetables and spices are added to the cups to give the noodles flavour. Finally, the cups are sealed and labelled before being sent out for sale.
