The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing instant noodles. Overall, there are eight main stages in the production process, beginning with storing flour in silos and ending with the labelling and sealing of noodle cups.

Initially, flour is kept in large storage silos before being transferred to a mixer. In this stage, water and oil are added to the flour, and the mixture is processed to form dough. The dough is then passed through a series of rollers to produce thin dough sheets. After that, these sheets are cut into strips and shaped into noodle discs.

In the next stage, the noodle discs are cooked in oil and then dried. Once the drying process has been completed, the noodles are placed into cups. Subsequently, vegetables and spices are added to the cups containing the noodles.

Finally, the filled cups are labelled and sealed to prepare them for sale and distribution. As a result, the instant noodles become ready for consumption.
