Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the process of manufacturing instant noodles, identifying several key stages such as flour storage, mixing, rollers, dough sheets and strips, cooking, and packaging. However, the explanation contains several inaccuracies and confuses how steps connect, such as stating 'the first step is flour it is made by storage silos'. The overview attempts to capture the beginning and end of the process, but the overall development is limited and confused in places. This corresponds to a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is structured into two paragraphs, beginning with a brief introductory sentence and overview. Cohesive devices are attempted using words like 'After analyzing', 'Additionally', 'Furthermore', and 'Finally'. However, referencing is frequently unclear, and sentences are often strung together awkwardly with run-on structures (e.g., 'noodles are made by the discs after drying cooking oil. Furthermore, vegetables and spices are added...'). The overall progression lacks a smooth logical flow, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on words lifted directly from the prompt such as 'storage silos', 'mixer', 'dough sheets', and 'vegetables and spices'. There are noticeable word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'flour it is made by storage silos' and 'drying cooking oil'. The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, resulting in a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at more complex or multi-clause sentences are frequently faulty and ungrammatical (e.g., 'The diagram illustrates that manufacturing instant noodles.' and 'the second step is mixer of water and oil in the rollers machine.'). Punctuation is weak, leading to run-on sentences. Frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, aligning with Band 4.5 or 5.0; a Band 5.0 is awarded as basic sentence control is present.
