The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The process chart shows the making of instant noodles in several steps from storing to labelling and sealing.

Overall, the whole process is completed in 8 steps, which are all carried out in the same factory and through machinery except the first step, which does not involve machines.

First of all, raw material for noodles, which is the flour, is transported through vehicles and stored in silos in large quantities. Further, the flour is mixed along with water and oil. From this step onwards, the whole process is continuous without interruption. Next, the mixed dough is turned into thin dough sheets with the help of a roller, after which it is cut into strips for noodles.

The fifth step includes turning dough strips into disc form. They are cooked by oil and later dried. The 7th step is when vegetables and spices are added to discs, which are then placed in cups. Lastly, the cups are labelled and sealed.
