The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The diagram illustrates process of manufacturing instant noodles from raw flour to final packed cups. Overall, there are eight stages in this process, which starts with storage of flour and ends with labelling and sealing of cups.

Initially, flour is delivered by a truck and store in big storage silos. After that, it is transferred to mixer where water and oil is added to it, and the mixture are turned into dough. The dough then passes through rollers, which flattens it into dough sheets. These sheets are cut into thin dough strips, which then forms noodles discs of equal size.

In the next stage, noodle discs are cooked in oil and dried, so that they can be stored for long time. Subsequently, the dried noodles is placed into cups and vegetables with spices is added on top of them. In the final step, cups are covered with labels and sealed, and the finished products are packed and ready for the market.

To summarize, instant noodles goes through a series of mechanical steps, with cooking and drying being the most important stage before packaging.
