Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, containing only 124 words, which leads to a penalty under Task Achievement. While the student attempts to describe the linear manufacturing process of instant noodles from flour storage to labelling and sealing, the coverage of the sequence is rudimentary and contains several omissions or misinterpretations. For instance, the transition from dough sheets to strips and discs is disjointed, and details regarding the cooking, drying, and packaging phases are underdeveloped. An overall overview is missing, and the information is presented in a fragmented manner rather than a cohesive report. To improve, the writer must ensure the word count exceeds 150 words and present a clear overview of the main stages before detailing them.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is divided into brief paragraphs, but the overall logical progression is weak. Although some basic sequencing words like 'First of all' and 'At the end' are employed, the connections between steps are frequently disjointed or repetitive, such as 'Also, in the last 3 steps...'. Referencing and cohesive devices are inadequate, making it difficult for the reader to follow the smooth flow of the manufacturing process. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs are underdeveloped and lack internal cohesion. To achieve a higher band score, the student should use a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., subsequently, following this, once the mixture is...) and ensure that each stage transitions logically into the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily relies on words directly lifted from the prompt (e.g., 'storage silos', 'dough sheets', 'vegetables and spices', 'labelling'). There are noticeable word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'transfered from a truck to a flour mill' (the diagram shows storage silos) and 'andd some cooking oil and rest for some time'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'transfered', 'steo', 'andd', and 'noodels'. The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, meaning that communication is occasionally strained by inaccurate terminology and mechanical phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text contains a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or attempt complex forms that result in severe structural errors and missing verbs, such as 'The diagram show the scenario that how instant noodles manufactured' and 'This diagram manufacturing the instant noodles'. Frequent grammatical inaccuracies, including tense inconsistencies and missing articles, disrupt readability. For example, 'flour transfered' lacks an auxiliary verb or correct passive structure. While some simple sentences are understandable, the high frequency of errors across the text restricts the grammatical score.
