The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The diagram illustrates the process used to manufacture instant noodles on an industtial scale.

Overall, the production on instant noodles is linear, eight-stage process that begins with storing flour in silos and ends with the labelling and sealing of finished cups. Throughout the process, flour is mixed woth water and oil, shaped into noodles, cooked and dried, before beinng packaged with seasonings.

At the first stage, flour id delivered by truck and stored in large silos. It is then transferred to a mixer, where water and oil are added to craete dough. The resulting mixture passes through a series of rollers, which flatten it into thin dough sheets.

The sheets are cut into narrow dough strips. These stripes are formed into noodles discs. After that , the noodle discs are cooked in oil and then dried to remove excess moisture. In the final stage, the dried noodles are placed into individual cups. Vegetables and spices are added to anhance flavour.Finally the cups are lebelled and sealed.
