The diagram illustrates the process used to manufacturing of instant noodles in a factory.
Overall, it is a process consisting eight steps, beginning with the truck unloads the flour in the factory's storage silos to the last step packaging of the product, In between there is cooking and drying.
Initially, the flour which is unloaded by truck in the storage silos goes to be mixed with added water and oil, then the flour goes through the rollers to make it dough sheets after this these sheets are cut to noodle strips.
In the following procedure, the strips are shaped into noodle discs. Once it goes through all these steps, it is ready for cooking, where it cooks in the oil before the drying step takes place. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all key stages of the instant noodle manufacturing process shown in the diagram, ranging from flour storage silos and mixing to cooking, drying, adding vegetables, and final packaging. An overview is provided in the second paragraph, outlining that there are eight main steps. The student accurately reports the progression of the process without introducing major factual errors. However, some aspects of the explanation remain somewhat descriptive and could be extended further or structured more cohesively to highlight key comparisons or groupings within the stages. Overall, the task is well addressed, satisfying the main requirements of Academic Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is arranged into logical paragraphs, starting with an introduction and overview, followed by chronological description of the stages. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the process, such as "Initially", "after this", "In the following procedure", and "Finally". However, some sentences feature punctuation faults and run-on structures (e.g., comma splices like "product, In between there is"), which slightly detract from the flow. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, and the overall progression is clear, though referencing and transitions could be smoother and more polished.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range suitable for describing a manufacturing process, using terms such as "storage silos", "rollers", "dough sheets", "noodle strips", "cooking and drying", and "packaging". There are, however, noticeable word formation and collocation errors, such as "used to manufacturing of" instead of "used to manufacture" or "used for manufacturing", and a minor spelling error ("vegatables"). Less common lexical items are attempted with mixed success. Overall, the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points clearly, but precision is occasionally lacking.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating relative clauses (e.g., "the flour which is unloaded by truck") and participial phrases. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. There are several structural errors and run-on sentences, such as "beginning with the truck unloads the flour... to the last step packaging..." and "now in the last step packaging happens where it is being labeled and sealed". Punctuation needs improvement, particularly regarding comma usage and independent clauses. While communication is not impeded, these frequent errors keep the grammar score at the level described.
