Student answer (Band 5.0)
The diagram illustrates the eight stages of the production of instant noodles in a factory.
Overall, the flour from the storage silos carried to the mixer, grinded b the machines into dough strips. The noodles biscuit then dried and spices are added before packing.
Journey of making instants noodles starts, when flour is bought from the storage silos through a veicle to the mixer. During mixing water and oil is added. In the third phase dough sheets are slides by the rollers and then cut down in large strips in the fourth stage. These strips then converted into round shape called noodles discS. While in the sixth stage, the discs the diped in the cooking oil and then leave it for sometime to dry. In seventh phase noodles are put into cups, some vegetables and spices are added. While in the final stage the labeling and sealing work carried out on the labels.
Through this process instant noodles are manufactured in the industries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student attempts to describe the main stages of the instant noodles manufacturing process, identifying the beginning and end points. However, the overview sentence contains factual inaccuracies and omissions, such as stating that flour is 'grinded' into dough strips by machines rather than following the sequence of mixing, rolling, and sheeting. Several intermediate steps are described confusingly, and important details from the process diagram are missed or misreported. While the overall structure of the process is attempted, the lack of precision and inaccurate reporting of intermediate phases places this in the Band 5 category.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is divided into four paragraphs, which provides a basic structural framework, but the logical progression within paragraphs is frequently disrupted. Transitional phrases like 'Journey of making instants noodles starts' and 'While in the sixth stage' are awkward and indicate mechanical or inaccurate use of cohesive devices. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and sentences do not flow smoothly from one step to the next, causing the reader to pause. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion lacks clarity and flexibility, aligning with a Band 5 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited vocabulary range with several noticeable word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'grinded', 'veicle', 'slides' instead of sliced, and 'diped'. Phrasing tends to be repetitive and translation-like (' Journey of making instants noodles starts, when flour is bought'). While some process-related vocabulary is attempted ('storage silos', 'mixer', 'labeling and sealing'), the frequency of lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations restricts the score to Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. Examples of faulty grammar include 'flour from the storage silos carried to the mixer' (missing auxiliary verb) and 'water and oil is added' (subject-verb agreement error). There are also punctuation issues, such as unnecessary commas and incorrect pluralization ('noodles discS'). Complex structures are rarely attempted, and when they are, they contain noticeable errors that frequently impede smooth reading, justifying a Band 5 score.
