Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the process of manufacturing instant noodles, mentioning several stages such as storage silos, mixing, dough sheets, strips, and discs, followed by cooking, drying, and packaging. However, the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, standing at 137 words, which negatively impacts the overall task fulfillment. Furthermore, some information is missing or vaguely described regarding key parts of the diagram, such as the addition of vegetables and spices, and the overall progression lacks a clear overview of the entire linear and cyclical process. The description tends to focus narrowly on certain steps while omitting a comprehensive summary of all stages shown in the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay lacks proper paragraphing, as it is presented as a single dense block of text, making it difficult to follow the logical progression of the manufacturing process. While some basic cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To start with', 'After this', 'Then'), referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'water and oil add in this' and 'it is then transferedin the cups'. The transitions between steps feel somewhat mechanical and abrupt, lacking smooth signposting to guide the reader through the different stages of the diagram.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is fairly basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'process', 'made', 'passed', and 'transfered'. There are notable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'water and oil add in this', 'mashing the mixture', and 'stay in good shaping'. Spelling errors are also present, including run-on words like 'pass throughthe' and missing spaces after punctuation marks. While the range is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional passive or simple active forms. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with missing prepositions, incorrect verb forms ('water and oil add in this', 'is then transferedin the cups'), and missing articles. Punctuation and spacing issues are also prevalent throughout the text (e.g., missing spaces after commas and periods). These errors frequently cause strain for the reader, although the general meaning remains partially understandable.
