Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially by outlining the main steps in the manufacturing of instant noodles, such as mixing flour, water, and oil, shaping the dough, cooking, and adding spices. However, the report lacks a fully developed overview and contains noticeable repetition across the paragraphs—for instance, the details regarding the initial mixing stage and the final steps are reiterated in the conclusion and body paragraphs without adding new insight. While the general sequence is outlined, key mechanical transitions and details from the visual are under-developed or presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, preventing the response from reaching a higher level of task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organization evident, starting with an introduction and attempting a chronological walk-through of the diagram. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the text suffers from repetitive looping of ideas, such as restating the mixing and packaging stages multiple times. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, with abrupt transitions like 'First of all,' and 'After all of this,' which fail to establish a smooth, logical flow between the various stages of the manufacturing process. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs feels disjointed rather than logically progressive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for describing a basic process, utilizing terms such as 'storage silos,' 'mixer,' 'dough sheets,' and 'vegetables and spices.' There are noticeable limitations and occasional errors in word choice and phrasing, such as writing 'the flour is fetched' instead of a more precise manufacturing term like 'transported' or 'supplied.' Furthermore, the repetitive use of everyday verbs and phrases restricts the range of vocabulary, and phrases like 'gonna be added' introduce an inappropriate colloquial tone that detracts from the formal academic style required for this task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic active voice constructions. Attempts at more complex or passive formulations—essential for describing industrial processes—are either missing or flawed, such as fragments like 'Passes through dough sheets...' lacking a clear subject. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('the flour is fetched', 'before the labelling'), capitalization issues, and awkward punctuation like a missing space after a period. These frequent errors occasionally cause minor difficulty for the reader in tracking the flow of the sentences.
