Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response attempts to cover all stages of the manufacturing process from flour storage to final packaging, thus addressing the basic prompt. However, some aspects of the process are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, the description of how the dough is formed, rolled into sheets, cut into strips, and shaped into discs is somewhat muddled and misses key mechanical transitions shown in the diagram. While an overview is attempted at the beginning stating it is an eight-step process, the lack of full clarity in reporting key features keeps the response at this level. To improve, the writer should ensure every major step in the diagram is outlined logically and precisely without omitting important intermediate transitions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response presents an overall coherent arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the process sequentially. Basic cohesive devices and transitional markers such as "To begin with", "After that", and "in next step" are used to guide the reader through the stages. However, paragraphing is somewhat weak, with almost the entire body compressed into a single dense paragraph. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally repetitive, relying heavily on consecutive uses of "After that". To reach the next level, the writer needs to group related stages into distinct paragraphs and employ a wider, more natural variety of cohesive devices to manage the progression of ideas smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the basic subject matter with terms like "storage silos", "dough", "rollers", "vegetables", and "sealing". However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as "demostrates" instead of "demonstrates", "cokking" instead of "cooking", and awkward phrases like "keep for the drying for some time" and "add some vegetables". Attempts to use less common vocabulary are limited and often accompanied by inaccuracies that occasionally strain the reader. To improve, the writer should focus on accurate spelling, correct word forms, and more natural collocations related to industrial processes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few faulty attempts at complex ones. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies, missing prepositions, and article errors, such as "it is eight step process" (missing article), "start from storage the flour" (incorrect verb form and preposition), "Flour arrived in to the plant" (tense error), and "dough sheet pass throgh the strips machin" (subject-verb agreement and spelling). These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect limited control over basic grammatical patterns. To progress, the writer must work on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and consistent verb tense usage.
