The diagram below shows how instant noodles are manufactured.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given diagram depicts the how noodles are manufactured in the industry.
Overall, the given data is consists of several stages for manufacturing the noodles. There are 8 stages involve in the processing of the noodles. These are storage silos, Mixer, Dough sheets, Dough strips, Noodles discs, Cooking plus drying, Vegetables with spices, Labelling with sealing.
In the begning, the storage silos in which the container are stored the flour then the material is pull from it and put in the mixer in the mixer the water with oil inserted then mixed in the third stage the dough sheets was passed through the cuter and the dough strips was maked and in fifth stage the dough strips rolled in the noodle discs and the noodles shaped are created after that cooked with oil and dryed then vegetables and spices are added then the packed in the cups.
In final, the last stage is the labelling and sealing in which the labels was sticked in the cups and sealed it.
Thats how, the noodles factories are maked the noodles through these stages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response successfully covers the main steps of the instant noodle manufacturing process, outlining the sequence from storage silos through to labelling and sealing. However, the treatment of the stages remains somewhat mechanical and lacks well-developed elaboration or deep comparisons where relevant. While the overview outlines that there are eight main stages, some parts of the process description are brief and rely heavily on a repetitive list-like recounting rather than a cohesive synthesis. To move higher, the response would need to present a more fully developed selection of key features, expanding on how the materials transform across the various stages without slipping into overly simplistic narration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
There is a coherent overall arrangement to the text, with paragraphs functioning to separate the introduction, the body stages, and the conclusion. Logical progression is attempted through chronological sequencing markers such as "In the begning" and "In final". However, cohesion can feel mechanical and repetitive due to simplistic linking devices and run-on sentences, such as "in the mixer the water with oil inserted then mixed in the third stage...". Referencing is sometimes unclear, which disrupts the smooth flow of information. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive devices while improving sentence boundary punctuation to ensure seamless transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common topic-specific vocabulary such as "storage silos", "dough sheets", and "labelling and sealing", but these are accompanied by frequent word choice and word formation inaccuracies, such as "maked" instead of "made", "cuter" instead of "cutter", and "sticked" instead of "stuck". There are also noticeable spelling and morphological errors throughout the text, including "begning" and "dryed". To achieve a higher score, the student must broaden their lexical range and demonstrate much better control over word forms, spellings, and appropriate collocations related to industrial processes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or run-on clauses joined by conjunctions. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in tense usage, voice, and agreement, such as "the data is consists of", "the dough sheets was passed", and "the labels was sticked in the cups and sealed it". Punctuation control is weak, with run-on constructions causing difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer needs to increase sentence variety by mastering complex structures and drastically reducing basic agreement and passive voice errors.
