Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response only minimally addresses the task, primarily because it is severely under-length, containing only 95 words against the required 150-word minimum. While the student attempts to describe the initial stages of the noodle manufacturing process, such as the storage silos and the mixer, the response cuts off abruptly mid-sentence and fails to report the majority of the process shown in the diagram, such as the cooking, drying, and packaging phases. Consequently, the information presented is very limited and fails to provide a complete overview or make relevant comparisons across the entire diagram.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response shows some basic organization with an initial introductory sentence and basic sequencing words like "Overall" and "Initially". However, there is no clear overall progression as the writing breaks off prematurely after only a few steps. Paragraphing is attempted, but the text is far too brief to demonstrate effective structural control. Cohesive devices are used in a basic manner, but due to the incomplete nature of the response, logical links between later stages of the diagram cannot be established.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing terms directly lifted from the prompt such as "storage silos", "flour", "mixer", and "dough sheets". There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as "Statring" (spelling error) and "The water and oil is mixed by the flour", which indicate a limited range of vocabulary that is minimally adequate for the task. Less common lexical items are largely absent, and the overall lexical control is basic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic active forms. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement and singular/plural forms, such as "The water and oil is mixed" and "The dough sheets is passed". Additionally, prepositional usage and article selection show persistent inaccuracies. These frequent errors, combined with the lack of complex sentence structures, result in grammar that occasionally causes difficulty for the reader.
