Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given diagram illustrates the manufacturing process of instant noodles.
Overall, the linear process consist of eight main stages, starting with floor stored in the two capsules and ending with labelling and seaing on the noobles cup. The main feature is that the whole process of making is with machinery.
Initially, the flour was stored in the two soils and moved to the mixer section where the water and oil a already there and roller continuresly press them. Following this it was shifted to dough sheests one by one, rubber roller work end, and it was transfered to metal dough strips that its oil should dry up.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by outlining the main features of the instant noodle manufacturing process. An overview is successfully provided, noting that the linear process consists of eight main stages and is fully mechanized. However, some aspects of the process are less developed and contain inaccuracies or under-developed descriptions, such as the confusion regarding how the dough sheets, strips, and discs are formed. While key stages like mixing, cooking, and sealing are mentioned, the lack of precise sequencing and slight misunderstandings of the diagram prevent a higher score, placing this criterion firmly in the middle band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, overview, and body steps. Information is generally sequenced in a logical progression corresponding to the diagram flow. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, relying on basic sequencing markers like 'Initially', 'Following this', and 'In the next stage'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun ambiguity in phrases like 'where the water and oil a already there and roller continuresly press them'. The bridging between sentences shows elements of the next band through clear paragraphing, but overall cohesive control remains solidly in the transitionary tier.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Vocabulary usage is adequate for the task, but lexical range is limited and contains numerous spelling and word-choice errors that stem from attempting less common vocabulary. Examples of misspellings and imprecise terms include 'floor' instead of flour, 'seaing' instead of sealing, 'noobles' instead of noodles, 'soils' instead of silos, 'sheests' instead of sheets, 'dices' instead of discs, and 'laeblling'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to restrict the score, showing a reliance on basic vocabulary alongside awkward lexical choices.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like 'starting with flour stored...'. However, control over grammar is inconsistent, featuring frequent errors in verb tense consistency (e.g., mixing past tense 'was stored' and present tense 'consist'), subject-verb agreement ('the linear process consist'), missing articles ('in two capsules'), and prepositional patterns. Although these errors rarely impede overall comprehension, they occur regularly throughout the text, demonstrating the characteristic patterns of frequent grammatical inaccuracies rather than a predominantly error-free mix.
