Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response partially addresses the task by outlining the main steps in the instant noodle manufacturing process, from flour storage to final labelling and sealing. However, the length requirement of 150 words is not met, as the response contains only 127 words, which limits the overall development of the details. An overview is attempted in the second sentence, but it is somewhat confused and mechanical. Some stages of the diagram, such as the rollers and cutting into dough sheets and strips, are described, but the information lacks the depth and clarity required for a higher band. To improve, you should ensure you meet the minimum word count and provide a clearer, more comprehensive summary of the overall process without missing key transition points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response shows some organisation with transitional phrases such as "to begin", "following this", and "moving towards for the further details", attempting to sequence the steps of the process. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the paragraphing is basic, with most of the text clumped together in a single body paragraph following a brief introduction. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, such as "moving towards for the further details". Referencing between sentences is occasionally unclear, making the flow somewhat choppy and repetitive. To reach the next level, you need to group related steps into logical paragraphs and use a smoother, more natural range of cohesive links to guide the reader through the stages.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Vocabulary use is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer successfully uses basic process terms such as "flour", "water", "oil", "mixer", "noodles", "vegetables", and "spices". However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as "storage of silos in floor truck" instead of flour truck, and "variouxs types" containing a spelling error. Word forms and collocations are frequently unnatural, for example, "water and oil are mix" instead of mixed, and "served into cups" instead of filled or placed into cups. To improve, you should expand your vocabulary range, learn correct collocations for manufacturing processes, and carefully check your spelling and word forms before submitting your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. There are numerous issues with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions embedded within grammatical patterns, such as "water and oil are mix in mixer machine" (missing auxiliary/inflection and article) and "dough converted into sheet" (passive voice error). Punctuation and article usage are also weak throughout the response, including missing capitalisation at the beginning of sentences and awkward punctuation before conjunctions. Frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct passive voice constructions, and paying close attention to verb tenses and prepositions.
