Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the subject as the manufacture of instant noodles and mention flour, storage silos, mixing, cooking and spices, so the response is relevant to the diagram. However, it gives only a very limited account of the process: most stages are omitted, including forming dough sheets and strips, shaping noodle discs, drying, adding the noodles to cups, and labelling and sealing. The overview also says there are eight steps, whereas the diagram presents more stages in the sequence, and the final claim that the product is ready for customers in the market is not shown. The response is substantially below the required 150 words. To improve, provide a clear overview and describe the main stages in order, using only details supported by the diagram.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic two-part structure: an opening sentence identifies the process, followed by an overview beginning with “Overall”. This gives the reader a simple starting point, and the stages mentioned are broadly connected to the topic. However, there is no developed sequence of stages, so the account does not progress from the flour delivery through to the finished cups. The second sentence also combines several actions without clear links, making the relationships between mixing, cooking and adding spices difficult to follow. Use separate sentences or a clearly ordered sequence, with connectors such as “next”, “after this” and “finally”, and group the process into an introduction, overview and detailed description.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “manufactured”, “storage silos”, “mixing”, “cooking” and “spices”, which helps establish the topic. However, the range is very limited, and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural for describing a production process. For example, “flour is collected by truck” does not clearly express that it is transported to the silos, while “ready to serve towards the customer in market” is difficult to interpret and adds an unsupported destination. Build a more precise set of process terms, such as “is delivered”, “is fed into”, “is rolled into strips” and “is sealed in cups”. Check word forms and spelling as well, including “oil” rather than “oli”.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a simple present-tense description, which is appropriate for a process diagram, and the opening sentence communicates the general topic. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. In “The diagram illustrate” and “It Include”, the verbs do not agree with their subjects, and “It Include” also has an unnecessary capital letter. The overview sentence beginning “flour is collected” becomes a fragment-like sequence of actions, with no clear grammatical structure linking them. The final sentence, “Instant noodles are ready to serve towards the customer in market,” also has an unclear construction. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build complete sentences around passive forms, for example, “The flour is transported to silos and then fed into a mixer.”
