Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the subject and give a brief overview, noting that the process has eight steps and ends with a labelled and sealed product. However, the response reports only the opening stages and stops before explaining how dough becomes sheets, strips and noodle discs, or how the noodles are cooked, combined with vegetables and spices, and packaged. The statement that the remaining steps are connected through “a large machine” is also too general to describe the distinct stages shown. The response is substantially below the required 150 words, which leaves the task only minimally addressed. To improve, describe the full sequence accurately and include a clear overview of the transformation from flour to finished cups.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic structure: an introductory sentence, an overview paragraph beginning “Overall,” and the start of a process description with “At first.” This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the response ends abruptly after “With the help of roller,” so the sequence cannot progress beyond the initial mixing stage. The overview also groups the later stages together as “interconnected through a large machine,” rather than guiding the reader through their order. Develop a complete paragraph that follows the diagram from left to right, using clear links such as “next,” “after this,” and “finally.” Check that each sentence is complete and that paragraphing supports the stages being described.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “raw material,” “mixer,” “roller,” “labelled,” and “sealed,” and the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited, and several choices or spellings reduce precision: “storage soils” does not accurately name the storage silos, “dispatchment” is an awkward choice for the product’s completion, and “manufeacturing” and “rolller” are misspelled. Repetition of “process” in the opening also makes the wording less controlled. Build a more precise set of terms for the stages and materials, such as “flour is stored,” “dough sheets,” “noodle discs,” and “packaging,” and proofread spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some correctly formed simple sentences, such as “This process illustrates the process of manufeacturing instant noodles,” and the overview uses a subordinate clause beginning “Once.” However, the range is narrow, and several sentence patterns are incomplete or inaccurate. In “Once the raw material dumped into the mixer,” the clause lacks a finite verb; it needs a form such as “Once the raw material is dumped into the mixer.” The final line, “With the help of roller,” is also an unfinished sentence, while “the remaining steps are interconnected” does not clearly express the sequence. Practise complete passive constructions for process descriptions and vary sentence structures while checking articles and verb forms.
