Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response identifies the topic and reports the opening stages: flour enters the storage silos, then water and oil are added in the mixer, and the mixture is pressed into dough sheets. These details are relevant, but the account stops before describing most of the process, including the formation of strips and noodle discs, cooking and drying, adding vegetables and spices, and sealing the cups. There is also no clear overview of the process as a whole. The response is substantially below the required 150 words, which leaves the task only minimally addressed. To improve, summarise the complete sequence and include an overview noting that production moves from mixing and shaping dough to cooking, packaging, and labelling.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The ideas follow a basic chronological order, signalled by “firstly” and “then,” so the reader can recognise the beginning of the process. However, the response is presented as one unfinished, loosely connected sentence rather than a clearly organised process description. The phrase “where all the material get into thick paste” is attached awkwardly to the mixer stage, and the final sequence about rollers and dough sheets is difficult to follow. There is no overview or paragraphing to guide the reader through the stages. Use a short introductory overview followed by a logically ordered account, with clear links such as “Next,” “After this,” and “Finally,” and make each stage a complete sentence.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant process vocabulary, including “manufacturing process,” “storage silos,” “mixer,” “rollers,” and “dough sheets.” These terms show an attempt to describe the diagram, but the range is narrow and several choices are imprecise or informal. “Basically draws the attention on” is not a natural way to introduce a diagram, while “thick paste” and “make it plain and straight” do not clearly describe the production stages. The response also omits the vocabulary needed for later steps, such as strips, discs, cooking, drying, and sealing. Aim for precise process verbs and nouns, for example “is transferred,” “is rolled into sheets,” and “is shaped into discs,” while keeping the tone formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect stages using a relative clause (“where all the material…”) and an infinitive (“to press it”), but most of the account relies on a single extended sentence, so the range of sentence structures is limited. Errors in agreement and verb form appear in “all the material get” and “apparently convert,” and the sequence after “where” lacks a clear, correctly formed main clause. Punctuation is also weak: the response begins with a lowercase letter, has a comma splice-like run-on, and omits spaces after commas. Improve accuracy by separating the stages into complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement and passive forms, such as “the mixture is pressed into sheets.”
