Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the subject as the manufacture of instant noodles and mention several relevant stages, including mixing, forming dough sheets and strips, cooking and drying, adding vegetables and spices, and sealing the cups. However, the account only partially covers the process: it omits the flour being delivered to storage silos, the formation of noodle discs, and the final labelled cups emerging on a conveyor. Some details are unclear or inaccurate, such as saying the noodles are put into “cooking oil” rather than describing the cooking-and-drying stage. There is also no clear overview of the process as a whole. To strengthen the response, summarise the start-to-finish sequence accurately and highlight its main stages before giving details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, and words such as “first,” “second,” “After,” and “Next” show an attempt to guide the reader through the stages. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the opening repeats the task rather than providing an overview, and the sequence becomes difficult to follow in phrases such as “After the third stage was dough strips made as the thin wire.” Some transitions are inaccurate or awkward, including “After it it was put into the cooking oil,” while the final conclusion repeats the general idea without adding a useful summary. Organise the process in clear chronological paragraphs, use stage references consistently, and connect each step with simple, accurate transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “dough sheets,” “dough strips,” “cooking,” and “sealed,” so the reader can recognise the general topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations make the description hard to interpret. For example, “make roller of these items,” “the thin wire,” and “vegetables made spices” do not clearly describe the diagram. There are also spelling errors such as “stge” and “labled,” and “strategies” is not appropriate for manufacturing stages. Build a bank of accurate process terms—such as “pass through rollers,” “form noodle discs,” and “add vegetables and spices”—and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to describe a sequence using both simple clauses and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between stages difficult to understand. For instance, “The diagram illustrate that which how instant noodles are manufactured” has problems with subject–verb agreement and clause structure, while “The second stage was mixer when was mix add water and oil in it” lacks a clear subject and uses an incorrect verb form. Tense and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, as in “After it it was put into the cooking oil and drying the noodles.” Practise writing complete passive sentences for process descriptions, such as “The flour is mixed with water and oil,” and check agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation.
