Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the topic and mention several relevant stages, including mixing, forming dough strips and discs, cooking, and adding vegetables and spices. However, the process is only minimally described: key details such as flour arriving by truck, the rollers forming sheets and strips, and the final cups emerging after labelling and sealing are missing or unclear. The overview is also inaccurate when you say “the noodles process is complete” before describing the later stages, and there is no clear summary of the process from raw flour to finished cups. The response is 144 words, below the required 150; the nine words copied from the prompt do not count. Describe the full sequence accurately and add a concise overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic sequencing, with phrases such as “The first step,” “the next,” and “after that” helping the reader follow parts of the process. The response is also divided into paragraphs. However, progression is not consistently clear: the first paragraph includes an unclear statement that the process is complete, while later paragraphs continue describing it. Several stages are joined into long, repetitive sentences, and links such as “and then” do not always show precisely how one stage leads to the next. Organise the response into a brief overview followed by a step-by-step account, and use clear references to each stage to make the sequence easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “dough sheets,” “dough strips,” “noodles discs,” and “cooking and drying.” This gives the response a basic range connected to the diagram. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “a wan came out and give the flour” and “the mixer came the noodles.” There are also spelling errors, including “prosess,” “complite,” “informantion,” and “industory.” Use precise process verbs and check spelling; for example, explain that flour is transported to the silos and dough is passed through rollers to form sheets and strips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to describe a sequence using simple clauses and some joined sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors frequently obscure the process. For example, “the noodles are manufactured instant” has an unclear word order, while “the mixer came the noodles in to the dough sheets” does not form a clear grammatical relationship between the mixer and the noodles. There are also problems with verb forms and agreement in “a wan came out and give” and “The noodles is discs.” Most sentences rely on repeated “and then” constructions, so the range of structures is limited. Practise accurate passive forms for processes, such as “the flour is mixed” and “the dough is rolled into strips,” and use full stops to separate stages.
