Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the process as a sequence and mention several key stages, including flour storage, mixing, shaping, cooking, adding vegetables and spices, and sealing. However, the account is incomplete and contains important inaccuracies: the diagram shows eight numbered stages, but your reference to “stage 8” for cooking is incorrect, and you omit the labelling-and-sealing stage as a distinct final process as well as the finished cups emerging on a conveyor. The overview is also weak: calling the procedure “quite simple” does not summarise its main progression. The response is 141 words, below the 150-word minimum. Include a clear overview and accurately describe the stages from flour delivery through to the finished product.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The stages are generally presented in process order, and sequencing phrases such as “At the very beginning,” “After that,” and “In the final step” help the reader follow the account. This gives the response some organisation. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph moves abruptly from dough sheets to strips and discs, then calls cooking “stage 8,” which conflicts with the earlier statement that there are eight steps. The text is also presented as one block, and the final comments about human influence and cleanliness are not well connected to the process description. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the stages, and make each transition accurately reflect the diagram.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “rollers,” “dough sheet,” “vegetables and spices,” and “labelled and sealed.” These terms show an attempt to describe the manufacturing stages. However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling errors—such as “insstant,” “begining,” “stipes,” and “nodle”—make the account less clear and less professional. Some word combinations are also inaccurate or unnatural, for example “flour … converted into mixture” and “altered into disc shape.” Use precise process verbs such as “is mixed,” “is cut into strips,” and “is formed into discs,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid unsupported evaluative phrases such as “neat and clean manner,” which do not describe a visible stage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to use sequencing clauses and passive constructions, which are appropriate for describing a manufacturing process. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, or sentence boundaries. For example, “The image … illustrate” lacks subject–verb agreement, while “the flour along wiyh oil and water converted into mixture” is missing a suitable passive verb and article. “The whole manufacturing is depend” also uses an incorrect verb construction. Punctuation and spacing are unreliable, as in “noodles. It” and “disc ..In.” These errors sometimes make the process difficult to interpret. Practise accurate passive forms (“is mixed,” “are dried”) and check each sentence for a complete verb and correct punctuation.
