Student answer (Band 4.5)

The above diagram shows the manufacturing of instant noodles which is very popular among people . The instant noodle is very tasty and healthy but if we eat to much then it will harm our health. the first step is to stored flour and then it goes into mixer where water and oil mixed with flour and then it passes on the rollers where dough sheet create after that the dough sheet transforms into dough strips and then into noodle disc after that the noodle disc cooks in oil and then drying process occurs and in the second last step is to transfer into cups with vegetables and spices and in the last step labeling and sealing process occurs and finally the process of making of instant noodles complete . It is a simple procedure and also common process. I genuinely recommend instant noodles 3 times in a week .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main stages in broadly correct order, including mixing flour with water and oil, forming sheets and strips, cooking and drying, and adding vegetables and spices before sealing. However, the response gives only a compressed account rather than a clear, complete summary of the process. It omits important details such as flour arriving by truck and being stored in silos, the rollers shaping the dough, and the finished cups emerging on a conveyor. There is also no distinct overview of the process’s overall progression. The comments that noodles are “tasty and healthy” and your recommendation to eat them are not supported by the diagram and distract from the task. Focus on the manufacturing information and report its key stages more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The stages are generally presented in the correct sequence, and linking expressions such as “the first step,” “after that,” and “finally” help the reader follow the process. However, nearly the entire response is one long sentence, so the stages and the unrelated personal comments are not clearly separated. The repeated use of “and then” and “after that” makes the progression mechanical, while the phrase “in the second last step” is awkwardly connected to the surrounding information. Organise the response into a brief overview and a paragraph describing the stages, using clearer sentence boundaries and varied links such as “subsequently” or “once cooked.” This would make the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use several relevant process terms, including “mixer,” “rollers,” “dough strips,” “noodle disc,” “drying,” and “sealing,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the vocabulary is limited and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the manufacturing of instant noodles,” “dough sheet create,” and “process of making of instant noodles complete.” The response also includes evaluative language such as “very tasty and healthy” and “genuinely recommend,” which is unsuitable for a factual process description. Use precise production vocabulary and natural collocations, for example, describe the dough as being “formed into sheets” and the cups as being “labelled and sealed.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect several stages in a sequence, but it relies heavily on one extended sentence and shows limited control of sentence structure. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in phrases such as “the first step is to stored flour,” “water and oil mixed with flour,” and “dough sheet create.” Other examples include “the noodle disc cooks in oil” and “the process … complete,” where the verb forms do not fit the intended passive process description. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including the lowercase “the” after a full stop and missing sentence boundaries. Practise using passive forms consistently—for example, “the flour is mixed with water and oil”—and divide the sequence into several complete sentences.
