Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as having eight stages and give a relevant overview from flour storage to labelling and sealing. Several key steps are also included, such as adding water and oil, forming sheets and strips, and cooking and drying the noodles. However, the account is only partial: the sequence around filling the cups is unclear, and the diagram shows vegetables and spices being added to cups, not noodles being filled into cups before those ingredients. The overview also repeats later stages rather than highlighting the process’s main progression more fully. The response is 142 words, below the required 150, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Add a little more accurate detail about the final stages and clarify the overview to develop the summary more completely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview and a description of the stages in sequence. Sequencing expressions such as “next,” “after that” and “finally” help the reader follow the process. However, the progression is sometimes difficult to track, particularly in the final paragraph, where “the noodles filled into cups” is followed by the addition of vegetables and spices without clearly explaining the cup-filling stage shown in the diagram. Several transitions are also crowded into long sentences, and punctuation around them is inconsistent. Use separate sentences or clearer stage groupings, and make each transition connect one accurately described step to the next. This would make the organisation more coherent and reduce the mechanical feel of the linking.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “dough sheets,” “strips,” “noodle discs” and “labelling and sealing.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of the manufacturing stages. However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “the noodles came towards the labelling and sealing panel” and “the final stage is to labelled.” Spelling errors, including “Intially,” “icluding” and “dryed,” are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for more natural process collocations, such as noodles being conveyed to a stage or cups being sealed, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise verbs would also help distinguish shaping, cooking, adding ingredients and packaging.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe a sequence using both simple clauses and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement is inaccurate in “the manufacturing consist” and “the instant noodles gradually goes.” Passive forms, which are useful for process descriptions, are also faulty: “the noodles filled into cups” and “the final stage is to labelled.” Some sentences run together, as in the description beginning “Intially the flour is stored,” and punctuation is inconsistent, including spaces before full stops. These errors sometimes make the relationships between stages harder to understand. Practise accurate present-simple passive constructions, such as “the noodles are cooked” and “the cups are sealed,” and divide the sequence into complete, correctly punctuated sentences.
