Student answer (Band 5.5)
The illustration gives information about the manufacturing process of instant noodles. Overall it take place in 8 steps start with storage of flour in silos and ending with labelling and sealing of cups.
It is quite evident from the diagram first of all flour is stored in storage silos and then the process of mixing start in which water and oil are mixed with flour. After that dough strips are produced with the of rollers. These strips are changed into the noodles discs.
Furthermore, these noodles are are cooked in oil then dried. However, packed these noodles in cups, vegetables and spices are added in this. Finally, labelling and sealing is done on these cups. Now they are ready to eat.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as beginning with flour in silos and ending with the cups being labelled and sealed, and you mention several key stages, including mixing, forming noodle discs, cooking and drying. However, the account is incomplete: it skips the production of dough sheets and the conversion of sheets into strips, and it does not clearly explain that the noodles are placed into cups before vegetables and spices are added. The overview also says there are eight steps, although the diagram contains additional intermediate stages beyond the eight numbered sections. The response is 29 words below the required minimum, which limits the detail available. To improve, describe the full sequence accurately and include a clearer overview of the main production stages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an opening overview is followed by two paragraphs describing the process, and sequencing expressions such as “first of all,” “Furthermore” and “Finally” help guide the reader. The stages are generally presented in the correct broad order. However, progression becomes unclear where the account jumps from mixing directly to dough strips, omitting the dough-sheet stage, and “However” does not express a suitable contrast before the packing stage. Some references are also vague, as in “these noodles” and “this,” making it less clear what is being placed in the cups. Use a consistent sequence of stages and clearer links between each transformation to make the progression more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “rollers,” “noodles discs,” “cooked” and “dried,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and some expressions are inaccurate or awkward, such as “the process of mixing start,” “produced with the of rollers” and “packed these noodles in cups.” Repetition of “process,” “noodles” and “cups” also restricts variety. Choose precise verbs for each stage—for example, flour is combined with water and oil, dough is rolled into sheets and cut into strips, and the noodles are placed in cups. More accurate collocations and a few varied process verbs would make the description clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer clauses, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in basic sentence construction and verb forms. For example, “Overall it take place” needs subject–verb agreement and a suitable passive construction, while “the process of mixing start” also has an agreement error. The phrase “produced with the of rollers” is structurally incomplete, and “However, packed these noodles in cups” lacks a clear subject and finite verb. There are also duplicated words in “these noodles are are cooked.” Practise forming accurate passive sentences for process descriptions, such as “The flour is mixed with water and oil,” and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
