Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the process as making instant noodles and give a brief overview, then describe several early stages in sequence, including flour storage, mixing, rolling, shaping strips and forming discs. However, the report is incomplete: it stops while describing cooking and omits the later addition of vegetables and spices, cups, labelling and sealing, as well as the finished product. The overview also says there are eight steps, but the process includes further stages that are not reported. Some details are unclear or inaccurate, such as saying the dough is made soft and that drying separates moisture. The response is also below the required 150 words. To improve, cover the full process and summarise its start and end clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an opening overview followed by a description of the process, and the stages are generally presented in the correct order. Sequencing expressions such as “Initially,” “Once,” and “Secondly” help the reader follow the account. However, progression becomes difficult because the response ends abruptly during the cooking stage, with no paragraph or sentence covering the final stages. Some links are also awkward or inaccurate, including “Followed by, to make it thin and long in shape,” and “Once, it is fully mixed.” Organise the process into a complete sequence, using clear transitions between preparation, shaping, cooking and packaging. A concluding description of the finished cups would give the report a more coherent ending.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “mixer,” “rollers,” “dough sheets,” “strips” and “discs,” which helps communicate the manufacturing stages. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the description less precise: “ingredents,” “stroage,” “perpared,” “seprated” and “dryed.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “conducted into eight steps” and “to make it soft.” Use the labels and actions shown in the diagram more accurately, for example “is fed into,” “is rolled into sheets,” and “is dried.” Proofreading spelling and choosing standard process collocations would make the account clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer clauses, and passive forms such as “is then put into a mixer” are suitable for describing a process. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow. Examples include “The diagrams illustrates,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “flour are storage,” which has errors in agreement and verb form. In “Once, it is fully mixed a dough is perpared,” punctuation and clause structure are faulty. The final sentence, “the noodles discs is then cooked in oil, to seprated the moisture the noodles discs is dryed,” contains agreement and infinitive errors and lacks clear sentence boundaries. Practise accurate passive constructions and punctuate each stage as a complete sentence.
