Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given diagram illustrates the process of how instant noodles are manufactured.

Overall, it can be clearly seen that the process of noodle making consists of various stages. beginning with storage silos and ending with labels and sealing.

According to early stages, firstly flour can be taken from storage silos and send to a mixer where water and oil are added. Then mixer send the rollers which converted into dough sheets and cut into strips shape before being shaped into Noddle discs.

The remaining stages Noodle discs are cooked with cooking oil and passing the process of drying with the help of heating . After this process the dryed noodle are placed into cups and vegetables and spices are added into cups. finalize, the labels put on cups and sealed very carefully.

A huge set up can be required for manufactured the noodles flour passing these stages then convert into noodles shaped.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the process as a sequence, give an overview from storage to packaging, and report several key stages: flour is mixed with water and oil, formed into sheets and strips, shaped into discs, cooked and dried, then combined with vegetables and spices in cups. These details are broadly consistent with the diagram. However, some stages are unclear or inaccurately described: the rollers do not themselves become dough sheets, and the final stage should specify that labels are added and the cups are sealed. The closing comment about a “huge set up” is not supported by the visual and adds little relevant information. A more precise overview and fuller, clearer reporting of the machinery and packaging stages would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs covering the earlier and later stages. Sequencing words such as “firstly,” “Then,” and “After this process” help the reader follow the production line. However, progression is sometimes disrupted by unclear links and sentence construction. For example, “Then mixer send the rollers which converted into dough sheets” makes the relationship between the mixer, rollers and sheets difficult to follow. “The remaining stages Noodle discs…” also lacks a clear transition, while the final sentence about a “huge set up” feels disconnected from the process description. Use one clear stage per sentence and connect each stage explicitly to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “dough sheets,” “strips,” “cooked,” “drying,” and “sealed,” which allows the main subject to be understood. There are also attempts at more specific wording, such as “manufactured” and “finalize,” but several choices or forms are inaccurate: “Noddle discs” is misspelled, “dryed noodle” is not the correct form, and “the mixer send the rollers” does not express the intended process naturally. “A huge set up” is vague and unsupported. Aim for precise process verbs and standard collocations, such as “the dough passes through rollers” and “the cups are labelled and sealed.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the overview clause “beginning with storage silos and ending with…” and a sequence of passive constructions. However, control is uneven, and some errors make relationships between stages unclear. Examples include “flour can be taken … and send to a mixer,” where the verb forms do not agree, and “Then mixer send the rollers which converted,” which has problems with articles, agreement and clause structure. The sentence beginning “The remaining stages Noodle discs…” is also incomplete, and “finalize, the labels put on cups” lacks a correctly formed clause. Practise consistent passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the flour is sent” and “the noodles are placed,” and check sentence boundaries and punctuation.
