Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given diagram illustrates the manufacturing process of instant noodles in several steps.

Overall, it is clearly observed that the formation of instant noodles includes eight different stages ,starting with collecting flour from storage and ending with labelling and sealing to the cup and distribute for sale.

To begin with, flour is delivered by truck any stored in a large storage silos. From there, it is transferred to a mixture where water and oil are added. Once the ingredients are combined to form dough, the mixture is passed through roller to flaten itno dough sheets. Subsequently, these flat sheets are cut into narrow dough strips.

In the next stage, the dough strips are shape into noodle Discs. These dis then undergo a cooking process using oil, followed by a drying phase. After the noodles are prepared, vegetable and spices are added to them.. finally, the flavour noodles are placed into a cup, which are than label and sealed and finally distribute for market for sale.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover the main sequence from flour storage through mixing, shaping, cooking and packaging, and your overview identifies the start and end of the process. This is a solid account of the diagram. Some details are less fully reported, however: the dough is formed into sheets, cut into strips and shaped into discs, but the rollers and the separate stages are not always described precisely. The diagram also shows vegetables and spices being added as the noodles enter cups; your wording suggests they are added before the noodles are placed in cups. The final phrase about distribution for sale is not shown in the visual. To strengthen the response, keep every detail tied to the diagram and clarify the cup-filling stage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response is organised into an introduction, an overview and two chronological body paragraphs. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Subsequently” and “In the next stage” help the reader follow the process, and the progression from flour to finished cups is generally clear. The paragraph break also separates the early preparation from later processing and packaging. Some links are less smooth: “After the noodles are prepared” is vague about which stage follows, and the final sentence joins several actions with repeated “and finally.” Improve cohesion by using precise references to each product as it changes form, and divide the packaging sequence into clearer steps. Overall, the organisation is logical, though a few transitions and references could be more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of process vocabulary, including “manufacturing,” “transferred,” “combined,” “dough sheets,” “strips” and “cooking process.” These terms make the stages understandable, and there are attempts at more specific wording. However, several inaccurate choices or forms reduce precision: “mixture” is used where “mixer” is intended, “flavour noodles” is unclear, and “dis” appears in place of “discs.” Spelling errors such as “flaten” and “itno,” along with “any stored,” also detract from control. Choose the exact nouns shown in the process and check spelling and collocations; for example, say the noodles are “placed in cups” rather than “placed into a cup” when describing the production line.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including “Once the ingredients are combined to form dough” and “followed by a drying phase.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “flour is delivered by truck any stored” has an incorrect verb construction, while “the dough strips are shape” needs a passive verb form. There are also agreement and article problems in “a large storage silos” and “the flavour noodles … which are than label and sealed.” Punctuation is inconsistent, including the space before the comma in the overview and the double full stop after “them.” Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions and check agreement and sentence boundaries; these corrections would make your varied structures more reliable.
