Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The process diagram illustrates the production of instant noodles, tracing the process from flour storage to the final packaging stage.
Overall, the process comprised of eight multi-stage linear steps that starts with transporting flour from silos to mixer, shaping into noodles packaging and ending with delivery after labelling and sealing.
The first five stages of manfacturing of noodles invoved transportation of flour from storage, mixing and making noodled shape. The dough is prepared through mixer by adding water and oil before this mixture undergoes rolling machine to transfer into thin sheets.Further these sheets, followed by cutting of strips by cutter before transfeering into noodles discs.
In the rest of the stages, cooking oil, vegetables and spices are added before drying. when processed noodles are completely dried, then these dried noodles are packed into cups and labells are pasted on cups. Then cups of sealed noodles are ready for delivery in market.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as beginning with flour storage and ending with packaging, and you include several key stages, such as mixing flour with water and oil, forming sheets and strips, and adding vegetables and spices. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the diagram shows cooking in oil followed by drying, whereas your account suggests oil, vegetables and spices are added before drying. The overview also calls the process “eight multi-stage linear steps,” which does not clearly summarise its main features, and “delivery” is not shown; the diagram ends with finished cups on a conveyor. To strengthen the response, give a precise overview and report the sequence and function of each major stage accurately, including the addition of ingredients to the cups after cooking and drying.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs covering the earlier and later stages. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the process. Sequencing phrases such as “The first five stages” and “In the rest of the stages” help signal the division, although the overview’s wording is difficult to follow and the division does not always match the stages described. Some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “Further these sheets, followed by cutting of strips,” and the final paragraph moves quickly from drying to packing. Use clearer transitions such as “Next” and “After this,” and make each sentence express one complete stage so that the progression is easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “silos,” “mixer,” “dough,” “strips,” “noodles discs,” and “labelling and sealing,” which helps convey the subject. There is also some attempt to vary wording with “production,” “prepared,” and “processed.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “delivery after labelling and sealing,” “rolling machine,” and “labels are pasted on cups.” Spelling errors, including “manfacturing,” “invoved,” “transfeering,” and “labells,” are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim to use the diagram’s terms consistently and choose natural process expressions, for example, “the dough passes through rollers” and “labels are applied to the cups.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview and the sentence describing the dough being prepared in the mixer. The main stages are usually understandable, but some grammatical errors make relationships between actions unclear. For example, “the process comprised of” uses an incorrect verb pattern, and “steps that starts” has a disagreement between the plural noun and verb. The phrase “Further these sheets, followed by cutting of strips” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, while “when processed noodles are completely dried” begins with an incorrectly capitalised subordinate clause and an awkward tense construction. Check verb agreement and sentence boundaries, and use consistent present simple or passive forms to describe the process.
