Student answer (Band 5.5)

The image illustrates the making of instant noodles from scratch.

Overall, the proceess includes eight procedural steps. A process starts from storing flour into storage, and ends, with packaging. To make an instant noodles, few materials will be needed such as flour, oil, spices and pured water, and a structured machineries though.

At the beginning, flour will be transported in storage facility, and then it will mix with the water and oil in considerable amount in the mixer. Afterwards, all the next steps will performed in conveyor belt. A dough will be made out of four, and it goes through a machine which converts dough in perfectly sized strips. However, a high pressure punching machine turn all the strips in noodles discs.

Furthermore, the discs will go for heating process with needed temperature, following step is to dry, the heated noodles discs at perfect atmosphere. Finally, A noodle cups will be packed with properly made labels and neccessary information on cups with sealing a cap of the cup. The instant noodles is made from scratch.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the process as beginning with flour storage and ending with packaging, and you report several central stages, including mixing, forming strips and discs, cooking, adding vegetables and spices, and sealing the cups. This gives a relevant account of the diagram. However, some details are inaccurate or unsupported: the diagram does not specify a “high pressure punching machine,” a “considerable amount” of ingredients, or a particular heating temperature or drying atmosphere. The overview also says there are eight steps, but the sequence includes intermediate stages such as rollers and the formation of sheets and strips, which are not clearly distinguished in your count. To strengthen the response, describe the stages precisely and avoid adding technical details that are not shown.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, an overview, and a chronological description divided into two paragraphs. Sequencing expressions such as “At the beginning,” “Afterwards,” “Furthermore,” and “Finally” help the reader follow the process, and the main stages are generally presented in order. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some ability to guide the reader through the sequence. However, a few links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “However” before the strips become discs, where no contrast is intended, and “following step is to dry” does not clearly connect cooking and drying. Improve progression by using precise stage-to-stage links and grouping related actions, rather than relying on a list of transition words.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “mixer,” “conveyor belt,” “strips,” “noodles discs,” “spices,” and “sealing,” so the reader can identify the main stages. However, the range is limited by repeated general wording and several inaccurate or unnatural combinations. For example, “transported in storage facility” does not clearly describe flour being delivered to silos, while “perfectly sized,” “considerable amount,” and “perfect atmosphere” are vague or unsupported. There are also spelling and word-form problems, such as “proceess,” “pured,” and “neccessary.” Aim for precise process verbs and natural collocations, such as “is fed into,” “is rolled into sheets,” and “is dried,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the chronological structure is usually understandable. Some sentence patterns communicate the process clearly, such as “A dough will be made out of four, and it goes through a machine,” despite the word-choice issue in that sentence. However, errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction recur: “it will mix” needs a passive form, “the next steps will performed” is missing “be,” and “A noodle cups” has incorrect article and number agreement. The opening overview also shifts between “A process starts” and “To make an instant noodles,” making the grammar less controlled. Practise consistent passive constructions for process descriptions and check each clause for a complete verb, correct article, and singular/plural agreement.
