Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as the manufacture of instant noodles and include several key stages, including flour storage, mixing, shaping, cooking and drying, adding vegetables and spices, and labelling. The overview also conveys that the cups are prepared for supply at the end. However, some important details are unclear or inaccurate: the flour, water and oil are mixed in the mixer, not in the rollers, and the noodles are cooked in oil and dried before vegetables and spices are added to the cups. The account also omits the distinct stages of forming dough sheets, cutting strips and shaping noodle discs. To make the report more complete, describe these stages in order and distinguish the ingredients and equipment accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an overall beginning-to-end structure, with an overview followed by descriptions introduced by “Initially” and “Finally.” This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph moves from mixing to rollers, strips and sheets, then back to noodle discs, making the production stages difficult to follow. Some linking expressions, such as “Following” and “prior to this,” do not clearly show the relationship between steps. The overview also repeats information that appears later. Organise the stages in strict chronological order, use paragraphing to separate the overview from the detailed sequence, and choose precise links such as “next,” “after shaping,” and “once cooked and dried.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “storage,” “rollers,” “noodles discs,” “vegetables and spices,” and “labelling.” This shows an attempt to describe the stages rather than relying entirely on general language. However, frequent spelling errors—such as “noodeles,” “numerious,” “dought,” and “lables”—make the account less clear and reduce the accuracy of key terms. Some word choices are also imprecise: “storage soils” does not name the silos, while “pored” and “selling machine” do not accurately describe the final stages. Build a reliable set of process verbs and equipment names, and check spelling carefully so the reader can identify each stage without guessing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the use of sequencing phrases shows an effort to connect stages. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the process difficult to interpret. For example, “the process commence” has an incorrect verb form, while “flour water and oil mixed together” lacks a clear passive construction and necessary articles. The sentence beginning “Following, this flour is mixed…” also combines several stages without clear grammatical links. Agreement, tense, and sentence boundaries need more consistent control. Practise describing processes with accurate passive forms, such as “The flour is mixed with water and oil,” and use shorter sentences when a sequence becomes complicated.
