Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the topic and describe several stages in the correct general order, including flour storage, mixing, shaping, cooking and packaging. However, the account is incomplete: it omits the addition of vegetables and spices, and does not clearly explain that the dough is formed into sheets, then strips, and then noodle discs. There is no clear overview of the process as a whole. The final comments about noodles being made “in 2 minutes” and science advancing are not supported by the diagram and take space away from relevant process details. The response is also 17 words below the required minimum. To improve, give a concise overview and report all key stages accurately, without adding personal commentary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The stages are generally presented in a sensible sequence, and linking expressions such as “First of all,” “After that,” “Next,” and “Finally” help the reader follow the process. The response is arranged in two paragraphs, although the second paragraph combines the manufacturing stages with unrelated commentary, weakening the focus and progression. Some connections are also unclear: “After that water and are added to it” leaves the ingredient unspecified, while “After passing through the cutter” does not clearly identify what is being cut. Use paragraphing to separate an overview from the detailed sequence, and make references explicit. A more controlled set of transitions would also avoid relying mainly on simple time markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “rollers,” “cooking and drying,” and “labels are applied.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of the production stages. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling errors reduce precision, such as “mixture” for the machine that mixes ingredients, “noodles disk,” “stips,” “thay,” and “insatant.” The phrase “a lot of work goes on behind the scenes” is conversational and not suitable for a factual process summary. Aim for accurate terms such as “mixer,” “strips,” and “noodle discs,” and use neutral, precise language throughout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentences and some passive constructions, which are appropriate for describing a manufacturing process. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. For example, “It describe” should be “It describes,” “Then it passed” needs a passive form such as “it is passed,” and “they are place” should be “they are placed.” The opening also runs two sentences together: “noodles. It describe.” There are attempts to link clauses, but the structures are not consistently controlled. Practise forming accurate present-simple passive sentences, since these are especially useful for process descriptions, and check each sentence for a complete verb and correct punctuation.
