Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the diagram as a manufacturing process and give a basic start-to-finish account, including flour storage, mixing, shaping, and packaging. However, the account is only partial and some stages are misreported or unclear: the noodles are cooked in oil and dried before vegetables and spices are added to cups, whereas you say the discs are put in cups before drying. The overview also says the process ends with labelling, although sealing and the finished cups emerging on a conveyor are shown. The response is 124 words, below the required 150, which limits the detail you can provide. To improve, describe the stages in their exact order and include a clearer overview of the full process.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable sequence, supported by markers such as “First,” “Next,” “On fifth stage,” and “Finally,” so the reader can follow the general direction of production. However, progression is weakened by inaccurate or confusing links between stages, particularly “The discs contain in cups before that drying the strips,” which makes the order difficult to understand. The overview and final sentence also repeat the idea that the noodles are ready for sale, while paragraphing does not clearly separate the overview from the detailed stages. Organise the process into a concise overview followed by a step-by-step account, and use linking phrases only where they accurately show sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “rollers,” “dough sheets,” “noodles discs,” and “labelling and sealing.” This gives the response a basic range suited to the diagram. However, several word choices and forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “contain the flour,” “soft dough moved on rollers,” and “finished good,” and spelling errors including “Begining,” “endining,” and “tranferred” are noticeable. Some repetition of “dough” and “stage” also limits flexibility. Aim for precise process verbs and natural collocations, for example, “flour is transferred,” “the dough passes through rollers,” and “finished cups are produced.” Proofread spelling and use consistent terminology for each stage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer sequences, and the basic meaning is generally recoverable. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and several sentences are incomplete or difficult to parse. For example, “Overall, the process consist on eight manufacturing stages” has problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence pattern, while “Begining with stored flour in containers and endining on labelling” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. Tense and passive forms are also inconsistent in “the flour tranferred to mixer” and “a soft dough moved on rollers.” Practise complete passive constructions for process descriptions, such as “The flour is transferred to the mixer,” and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
