Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram illustrates how instant noodles are manufactured.
overall it is noticeable that first step is Flour truks are sent to storage silos and the last step is labeling.
it is obvious that in making instant noodles trucks filled with flour are sent to the storage silos then the flour is sent to the mixer in the mixture they add water and oil after mixing dough is formed on the rollers then they made dough sheets after that they make dough strips and then these strips are moved to dics there they made noodle discs then are being cooked and dried at the same time they they pack them in cups even those cups also include vegetables and spices after that do sealings of those cups and also label them.
a closer look reveals that flour is the main product in making instant noodles and on the other hand labeling them plays an important role in their sales and for
advertisement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as the manufacture of instant noodles and report several central stages, including flour storage, mixing with water and oil, shaping the dough, cooking and drying, and adding vegetables and spices before sealing and labelling. This gives the reader a broadly relevant account. However, the overview is limited to the first and last steps rather than summarising the process as a whole, and some details are unclear or inaccurate: the diagram shows noodles entering cups after cooking and drying, but your wording suggests they are packed in cups at the same time as cooking. The final comment about flour being the main product and labelling helping sales or advertising is not supported by the diagram. Focus on the sequence and key transformations, and avoid adding explanations not shown.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall order: it begins with an introduction, gives a brief overview, and then describes the stages from flour delivery to packaging. Sequencing words such as “then” and “after that” help the reader follow the process. However, the main description is compressed into one long paragraph and relies heavily on repeated, sometimes awkward transitions, so the progression feels mechanical. The final paragraph shifts from describing the diagram to making a general claim about sales and advertising, which weakens the focus. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the detailed stages, and group related steps into clear stages. More precise links, such as “subsequently” or “once dried,” would improve flow without repeating the same connector.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “storage silos,” “mixer,” “dough sheets,” “dough strips,” “noodle discs,” and “labeling.” These terms show an attempt to describe the diagram rather than relying only on general language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings reduce precision, such as “truks,” “dics,” “do sealings,” and “they made dough sheets.” “Main product” is also an imprecise description of flour’s role in the process. Aim for accurate process verbs and natural collocations, for example, “the dough is rolled into sheets,” “cut into strips,” and “the cups are sealed and labelled.” Check spelling carefully, especially for key items in the diagram.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to connect stages in longer sentences, but the structures are often faulty or difficult to follow. For example, “in the mixture they add water and oil after mixing dough is formed on the rollers” joins several ideas without clear clause boundaries, and “then are being cooked and dried” lacks a clear subject. There are also problems with articles and agreement in “first step is Flour” and “those cups also include.” Most verbs are presented in the active voice, although a process description would benefit from controlled passive forms, such as “the flour is mixed” and “the noodles are dried.” Use shorter, complete sentences, punctuate each stage clearly, and check that every clause has an explicit subject and a correctly formed verb.
